Will it react on skin that reacts to everything?
We cannot promise it will not, and a few people do react. Our own reviews carry those accounts alongside the rest. That removes one documented category of reaction, and it does not make any formula reaction-proof, because the botanicals and essential oils in this one are triggers for some people too. Why does a waterless oil not need preservatives?
Microorganisms need water to grow, so a formula that contains water needs an antimicrobial preservative system to stay safe on the shelf. The industry's own microbiological risk standard recognises anhydrous formulas, which contain no water at all, as low-risk products outside that requirement. Sacred Serum is anhydrous: 14 cold-pressed oils, 8 herbal infusions in oil, 4 essential oils and 2 specialty extracts, with no water phase and nothing added for shelf life. Preserving a water-based formula is correct practice rather than a failing. This is a different architecture, not a better-behaved version of the same one.
What is the tint, and will it look orange on fair skin?
Sacred Serum carries a light golden-amber tint that comes from the oils themselves, not from an added colorant. Carotenoid-rich rosehip and sea buckthorn, together with the hemp extract, carry their own color. It is sheer, it evens the look of skin, and it is not foundation. A minority read it as too warm on very fair skin. If you want no tint at all, Sacred Glow Serum is the tint-free one, and it is also the one to sleep in.
What does it smell like, and does that matter for reactive skin?
Sacred Serum smells botanical, from four essential oils: rose, lavender, frankincense and geranium. There is no synthetic fragrance in the formula, which MADE SAFE certification does not permit. The naturally occurring aromatic constituents of those oils are documented triggers for a minority of people, so preservative-free is not the same as reaction-free.
