Our Sustainability Commitment
Sacred Rituel is what skincare looked like before the beauty industry industrialized it. And what it could look like again.
We do not treat sustainability as a marketing tier. It is the operating constraint we have refused to violate for seven years. This page is the public record of that commitment.
Our principles
Whole-plant, never isolated. Every ingredient is cold-pressed organic oil, raw whole-plant infusion, or steam-distilled essential oil. We do not use isolated synthetic actives, petrochemical-derived compounds, or fragrance isolates.
Certified organic at the input level. Every ingredient we source is certified USDA Organic. The USDA does not certify finished cosmetics. We apply the strictest organic standard available at the input level and will pursue finished-product certification if a regulatory pathway opens.
No synthetic preservatives. Ever. We refuse phenoxyethanol, parabens, formaldehyde-releasers, PEGs, polysorbates, and the rest of the synthetic preservative system. Our products carry honest, shorter PAOs (6 months on our hydrosol toner, 12 months on our oils) and every bottle is batch-numbered.
Glass primary packaging. Every Sacred Rituel bottle and dropper is glass. Some components like spray tops and certain caps still contain plastic, and we are working to eliminate them where the format allows. We will not greenwash this gap.
In-house production. Every formula is crafted, bottled, packaged, and fulfilled at our Los Angeles headquarters. No co-packers. No outsourced fulfillment. The team that formulates the product signs the batch number on every bottle.
Narrow product line. Six products in seven years. Two products, twice a day, is the entire daily ritual. We refuse to participate in the SKU-velocity industry pattern.
Our certifications
-
Leaping Bunny. Cruelty-free certification with full supply-chain audit, not just finished product.
-
MADE SAFE®. Screens every ingredient against more than 15,000 of the most toxic substances on Earth, a banned list nearly five times the size of the European Union's restricted list.
Our supply chain
We contract directly with domestic regenerative farms, including Oshala Farms in Oregon, for the botanicals in our formulas. Our supply chain is designed to rebuild soil rather than deplete it.
What we are working toward
-
Eliminating remaining plastic components in spray tops and caps.
-
Publishing a formal Life Cycle Assessment for our top-selling products.
-
Pursuing finished-product organic certification if a credible regulatory pathway opens for cosmetics.
-
Maintaining our values as we scale, because the practice of refusal only changes the industry when it reaches more customers.
